Your platform is a means not an ends.

Focus then on the purpose behind your platform as much as if not more than the tactics of platform building itself.  When you are really clear you can spend an amazing amount of time relating, deepening, and exploring how your purpose is expressed and brings value to your audience. In other words, a clear purpose for you platform is not a gateway but a pathway. You keep thinking about it.

Your voice is about them not you.

Remember then, that the combined effect of your personality, perspective and preferences as a platform builder are about value-creation not self-expression. Of course you will be true to who you are and sure it will feel good to express yourself. But that's not the primary reason you build a platform. How does your voice limit and not release the impact of your bigger purpose?
